Secret Harbour Golf Links
Description:
Set around an hour south of Perth, Western Australia’s Secret Harbour Golf Links resembles
California’s Spyglass Hill for the manner in which some of its holes are among pristine rugged
sand dunes and others through foliage and within a residential development. The course was
designed by Graham Marsh and opened its Links nine, now the back nine, in 1994 with
developers selling housing sites around these holes at the same time as planning the second
nine. In 1998 with the Links nine development complete, the Dunes nine was opened.
The Marsh design reflects the style of traditional Scottish links with fast running couch fairways
(Windsor Green on the original ‘Links’ nine and Wintergreen on the ‘Dunes’) pitted with well-
positioned pot bunkers. Red Fescue highlights the light rough and surrounds the pure 1019
Bent grass greens which are a delight to putt on. All around the coastal sand dunes are
covered with western coastal wattle, coast beard-heath, grevillea, coastal banjine, sedges and
lilies. Black kennedia climber runs over sand and shrubs. An undulating layout and pleasant
walking. A strict dress code applies and soft spikes are preferred. Open to public 7 days a
week and bookings are essential.
